Before I toss out this bit of memorabilia, I thought I’d record it here… it was part of a piece of public-participation art during the summer’s Art of the Danforth event. People were invited to write something on provided shipping tags, add theirs to a cluster hanging from a park tree, and take one that they liked.
I liked this one, especially in the current political environment. I forget what I added on my tag… nothing memorable, obviously.

A local tree has grabbed hold of an iron fence that was imprisoning it. “Why?”, I wondered. “Has the tree lost patience and begun throttling its oppressor?”
But I turned the corner, and the plot thickened…

Sculptor Alastair Dickson first caught my eye with ingenious creations he called The Brutish Museum. Today, I was happy to see that one window of the 1847 Danforth Avenue studio is his stage once again.
Reflections on the window glass make these devilishly difficult to photograph, so I’ll just show you 3 of the 9 boxes that make up the current display. If you are in the neighbourhood, do drop by and see them all. They are marvellous.

Many of our city streets are rutted, potholed wagon trails here in Toronto, but other Canadian cities probably need some citizen input, too. Here’s your chance… click the picture and report a problem.

How much good news can Torontonians handle?
The judge has removed Rob Ford from office. We have a chance to recover from the mistake of ever letting him into office. I’m not sure whether it will be necessary to get a replacement mayor, but I think we’d be better off with none than the one we had.
I hope Rob Ford will just go away and coach high school football. He likes that better than being mayor and he’s good at it, apparently. His stubborness may drive him to appeals that are costly and distracting for the city, though.

Most visits to this site come from Canada, as you might expect. When I noticed that this month’s table shows China listed as second, I was surprised.
