It’s been years since I took the ferry across to Centre Island, but Danica has inspired me to plan a visit this summer. She walked all around the island parks yesterday with longtime friend Jane, stopping for lunch at the Rectory CafĂ© [pictured above]. Of course they dropped by for a look at the “clothing optional” beach, too. No hunky males were spotted (I am told).
Some more photos from the day…
There’s a boardwalk on the Islands. My favourite tree hugger. Back to the city, where cranes continue to line the waterfront with condos.

Cottagers still live on the Islands, but no new ones are allowed to be built. I like the idea of people living there, commuting to the city by ferry.

It costs the city nothing to have people watching out for the park, 24 hours a day. A civilizing influence.

The Island is terrific. I recommend taking your bikes and a backpack for water and snacks.
