
It has served its purpose. Four blue eggs hatched and flew a while ago. Mother robin still eats in our front yard, but she’s done with nesting for a while.
When I took the nest down from its perch atop a porch pillar, I noticed that the outside, structural windings were made of long, long strands of coarse grass. Short fine blades were used as lining. Creature comforts, no doubt.
