The Danforth is more amazing than ever.

Ken MacDougall was a great sport when only two of us showed up for his 1:00 p.m. Art Amble along the Danforth, from Greenwood to Woodbine. He gave us the full tour, unveiling a creative side of the area that I suspected was there, but couldn’t see.
That’s what the huge, 3-week long art event is all about… revealing how effectively the arts can be involved in day-to-day life, commenting on our surroundings, making us smile, helping us see and refreshing our thinking. I won’t go into all of it because there’s so much and it’s better covered here. I’ll just say that I am very, very impressed with what is going on.
The artworks are acting as a bridge between neighbours. People that would seem to have very little in common are drawn together, commenting on sidewalk paintings, murals, art installations, musical and theatrical performances, paintings and sculptures. Store windows become showcases. Cafés become galleries. It’s a very good antidote to cold, impersonal city habits.
One more nice one…

I love what that single stripe of colour does… and you aren’t even seeing the context that the colour relates to.
