I’m trying out the $6.45 Rise & Shine breakfast sandwich at the popular café on Lower Gerrard. Free range egg, cheddar cheese and bacon on a fresh baked bun. Verdict: Delicious. Goes great with a large coffee. Whole thing… under 10 bucks including taxes.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to finish my large coffee in peace. The manager wanted my table for a threesome and tried to compensate me with a top-up of my cup. When I went to another table, a customer at the adjacent table said she was holding it for friends. I wound up with lots of coffee, but no place to sit. I took a last sip, put the cup on the counter and went out the door.
Perhaps the manager made a business decision. The café is mainly frequented by mommies and tots. If solo geezers are not in the target market, I’m turning in my Lazy Daisy button and moving on. The Bandit on Upper Gerrard might be for me.
