Kashmeri film night at ReelWorld

Kash Kashmeri’s documentary tribute to the life of his Bollywood scriptwriter father premiered tonight at the Famous Players Canada Square Cinema. The audience loved the story and gave the filmmakers many rounds of applause during the Q&A afterwards. This news clip explains more about the film.

It is strange to think that I was in the same building as Aghajani Kashmeri while he was still alive, yet had no idea that I’d one day see a film about one of the residents of the Heritage Nursing Home on Queen Street East. I was there to visit a friend, but now I wonder about the stories of the many others living there.
Aghajani’s film story was frank about his transition from celebrity and admiration in India to obscurity in Canada. It wasn’t easy. [Link to documentary’s web site]
Our attempts to photograph Kash inside the cinema failed completely, so I asked Danica to pose amidst the schmoozers and wheeler-dealers in the lobby. The ReelWorld Film Festival is a buzzing, booming success that gets bigger and better every year.

  1. I enjoyed the entire experience. Makes me want to attend more festival offerings…at least the smaller ones. Mostly I look forward to watching The Golden Pen again when it airs on OMNI. Any idea when that will be?
