I don’t really care who owns Tim Hortons but I’ve never liked the flag-waving in their advertising. Surely that will go away now. And the dark roast coffee isn’t bad.

I think the flag waving has been one of their most effective marketing tools. They would be crazy to stop.
You’re right, maybe they will keep it up. I just saw Peter MacKay sporting his “No Compromise” T shirt with the machine-gun-maple-leaf design. Does this kind of thing appeal to a lot of Canadians, or just a certain crowd?
To assume that TH customers are all conservatives or white trashy would be a huge mistake. Many people go to TH because they like the products and the prices (the TH locations in my trendy neighbourhood are packed). And others go so they can avoid the snobs and layabouts at overpriced places like Starbucks or Second Cup. I don’t use any of these places under normal circumstances but if I had to choose it would definitely be TH for me.
I’ve made much huger mistakes. I just wish Hortons would advertise their products and prices and leave off with the ballyhoo.
OK, not huge. Unfortunate.
You are a gracious gentleman. I already knew that, but sometimes, it’s good to say.
