There it sits beside the row of tellers … a big, shiny barbeque. A sign says we should ask our teller for a ballot to win it. The guy in front of me did.
“You have to sign up for a Mastercard,” the teller said.
“I already have a Mastercard. Do I have to cancel it and sign up for a new one?”, guy asked.
“Yeah, I guess, if you wanted to do that,” said the teller.
“Yeah, right”, said the snubbed Mastercard owner, leaving.
Mindless marketing offers hurt sales. When companies offer better deals to potential new customers than they are giving to their real paying customers, how do the real customers feel? Cheated, unappreciated and annoyed, that’s how. Not good way to build customer loyalty.
