Luminato is a huge annual arts festival, but this remarkable city has so much going on, we have only been able to get to one of the many, many events. Danica had the foresight to book free tickets to hear TVO’s Steve Paikin interview Pullitzer Prize winning author Alan Taylor about his new book, The Civil War of 1812: American Citizens, British Subjects, Irish Rebels & Indian Allies.
What a fabulous hour! Steve Paikin was the ideal guy to have asking the questions…down to earth, real life sort of questions. Alan Taylor had perfectly matched responses, bringing history alive with colourful, insightful stories about the chaos of warfare, politics of the time and the quirks of fate. Her was coping with laringitis (he has probably talked himself hoarse on his book tour) but he soldiered through and gave a wonderful account.
