A Google visit acts as a reminder

Someone dropped by, looking for Helen Andersen, Canadian artist from Saanichton. I’m glad the search turned up my site but I realized that it could have gotten better results if I put up a few more images.
Google needs a photo of Helen (my mother), so here’s one with her friend Bill Reid in his studio in Vancouver. As you can see, Bill was working on his monumental Spirit of Haida Gwaii at the time. You may recognize it from its image on the Canadian 20 dollar bill.
I’ve put this photo up before, but this one is higher resolution. I made it by scanning a paper photograph I have. It was taken in 1989. Click on the image to see it full size.

  1. Nice timing!
Last week I put a book of Bill Reid artwork into a local collection of Northwest Coast artwork located in Ymir BC.
Tucked inside was a photo taken the same day. Bill is seated carving (he has on the same shirt as in your photo)
Next week I’ll scan photos of you and mom. Rain and more rain makes inside projects high on my list.
Thanks so much for your posts. Very inspiring!
